About Jen

Jennifer (“Jen”) felt called as a helper after reading The Child Called It by Dave Pelzer at the age of 12. From that moment, Jen was compelled to assist others in whatever way she could. Soon, she began preparing and distributing healthy snacks and water to unhoused individuals on her way to summer camp.

Jen earned her undergraduate degree from Bradley University and her Master’s from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Jen is licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. Over the course of 15 years in the field, Jen has worked with individuals, couples, groups, and families in a variety of settings to include case management, crisis intervention, intensive outpatient, home-based therapy, and outpatient psychotherapy.

While Jen is well-equipped to treat most common concerns and issues you may face, she specializes in:

  • grief and loss

  • infertility (for women and men)

  • perinatal mood disorders

Jen also helps individuals struggling with:

  • anxiety

  • stress management

  • depression

  • boundary setting

How did I become more focused on perinatal mental health and grief?

Through my own experience and heartache of years of infertility, pregnancy loss, anxiety during pregnancy, birth trauma and postpartum anxiety. I know first hand the magnitude it impacts relationships, life perspective, career and a future.

There is uniqueness to these experiences when we live in a world that gives you the impression if you want to have children just have intercourse. Well the reality…it is not that simple. Although more women than before are coming forward about difficulties building a family, there are many that feel isolated, unsupported or left feeling “broken.” And if you find yourself postpartum and struggling you begin to question your worth as a new parent.

I have tailored my practice to help those suffering with grief and loss but also capturing the perinatal/postpartum population.

I am here to support you in this difficult journey and navigate life challenges.
